Konstantin (my husband) wants to come visit us in September. Closer to the middle of the month. For now, he works a shift. But in the summer, he had a month of forced break between projects. Well, you probably know about us. But I will still tell you briefly.
Our grandmother (my mother) really wanted to get permission here for at least a piece of land to grow something. As a result, she met a Cypriot who has a huge garden (more than 1 hectare) and a vegetable garden opposite our house. Mom visits him every day, helps with gardening. She does not speak Turkish at all, but this does not stop her from communicating with him through an audio dialog translator. Of course, there are funny situations during translation. But in any case, at least with signs, they understand each other, since they are passionate about the same thing. Together, they weed, pick figs, sow cucumbers, shape olive trees, bake hot bread with sesame seeds, cook okra and molia (local delicious and healthy vegetables). He shares everything with his mother with pleasure, now they even go to play bingo together in the evenings! And during the day they go shopping for the garden and home together.
Of course, everything is new to Mom, everything is interesting, especially since they are the same age. His only son is getting married in a few days, so our mother was among the first invited to the wedding. For us, everyone who is in the circle of communication with my mother’s friend is also friends. We are familiar, I communicated with some of them in English, with others in Turkish. And everything is great!
When I was looking for myself on the island in terms of work, I literally tried everything and everywhere. I have a pedagogical university (teacher of literature, Russian and English languages) + agricultural university behind me. As you remember, in order to be in demand, I studied before moving to Northern Cyprus to become a massage therapist and a manicure and pedicure specialist. And also, while in Russia, I studied Turkish, which I began to study here 3 times a day upon arrival. It gave its results!
Needless to say, at the beginning of my stay on the island, I was in demand as a manicure and massage specialist from the very first days. And then I began to search for myself further, from the series, where fate would lead. A couple of months ago, I came to get a job in a large company – a well-known developer on the island. They gave me a questionnaire to fill out in Turkish, they said that the girls at the reception would help if anything. I filled it out myself, wrote everything down in the most detailed way. And it so happened that during the interview it was not me who found the job (but the employer left my resume in the database for other future vacancies), but my eldest daughter, who successfully passed the interview the very next day and subsequently got a job at this company.
Now, having received the Residence Permit Assistance Program, my daughter will soon be sent to Turkey to apply for a work visa. She certainly likes her job, where she communicates in three languages u200bu200bevery day. And she has already adapted well to all this multilingualism. My path led me to what I originally planned in the Russian Federation – to teaching Turkish. I work as a tutor (in terms of money, it works out well – definitely and noticeably more than the minimum wage). I have developed my own method for learning Turkish in 2 months. I have more than 20 students. Some have already graduated upon completion of my course. These are both adults and children. From 4 to 53 years old at the moment. I already have experience working with groups of adults and children, and newcomers immediately sign up for the vacant places. It is nice to be in demand in several cities at once, despite the fact that we do not have our own transport here yet, but the parents of the students take me to and from my city. It is very pleasant to receive a decent payment for your work and to be the mistress of your time and schedule. And I remember how you supported me in the fact that there will definitely be another thing, that I will teach Turkish here. And it turned out to be very popular among Russian-speakers, especially with a clear, effective methodology.
But it is not only work that fills our life here. We have time to relax on weekends, and see interesting places and surroundings, go to the sea with children, and I have only three minors. The children are also immersed in the atmosphere of studying the Turkish language. They like everything here very much, especially delicious dairy products, fruits and even vegetables, which children usually do not like very much. My children, thanks to my work, have many friends and acquaintances, chat in Turkish with neighbors and their children.
Turkish Cypriots are very hospitable and kind. Neighbors treat our children to local grapes and homemade desserts, and we treat their children to ice cream. In general, life is in full swing. We have been here for only 4 months, but we feel how rich our life is, and the managers and volunteers of the Assistance Program help us solve all the issues related to everyday life, paperwork, and other things. Apart from endless gratitude, we have nothing to say to you! Your program is a real find and value for people who have arrived in a foreign country.
The program and all those who work in it help solve all the issues that arise. And you know, it is very comfortable and convenient that we ourselves do not need to be distracted by all this, spend endless hours reading in local Russian-speaking chats where, when, and how to contact here and on what issues. Such a high level of organization in helping emigrants is very valuable and makes life in a new place many times more pleasant than we would have to organize all this ourselves. Yes, by the way, this is exactly why two more families from our Republic of Khakassia are planning to move here in the near future, since all their steps for moving have already been thought out in the Program. We have no doubt that you will be able to make their move just as comfortable!!!

Of course, a positive attitude and openness to everything new, a thirst for new knowledge and a calm attitude to any changes in our lives helped us a lot!
PS: An interesting fact is that many of our friends noticed that over these 4 months, Mom and I have become much younger. They write to us that it feels like we look 10-15 years younger in our photos. I think that fresh air, sea water and quality products did their job, which was reflected on our faces.
